The OUTBOUND PROGRAM supports Tokyo-based start-up companies in their journey of global expansion in an aim to maintain the city’s global competitiveness.Consisting of six courses – Silicon Valley, New York, Singapore, Manila, London,Europe.– we have partnered with global accelerators across the world with expertise in local ecosystems of the regions mentioned. In cooperation with global accelerators, this program will provide Tokyo-based start-up companies with abundant opportunities to connect with various global business partners and investigators through bootcamps and mentoring sessions.

Silicon Valley Course

Sillicon Valley Course is aimed to help startups expand their business into North America and scale up their business globally. In Sillicon Valley, well-developed business environment such as funding and human resources for startups, participants can connect with local professionals and investors. The program also includes visits to Disrupt, a tech event for early-stage companies seeking to raise capitals in Silicon Valley.
Application Requirements
  1. Is a company based in Tokyo, owning a physical office within the city.
  2. Is a company that has been in business for less than 10 years.
  3. Must be a seed or early stage start-up company.
  4. Must be able to speak English and has specifically considered expanding into the overseas market; as well as participation of a decision making party regarding US market expansion.
  5. Agree to the terms and conditions and be able to participate in all programs related to this course.
  6. To be able to report on business negotiation agreements (business tie-ups, fundraising, etc.) that lead to overseas expansion and their prospects through a questionnaire administered by the secretariat to ascertain the results of the project, and to cooperate in the dissemination of the results of the project.

  4. You must have product services backed by its own proprietary technology, have already achieved PMF (Product Market Fit) in Japan, and have a certain level of traction.
  5. You must have a decision-maker who can speak English at a business level and who has the authority to make decisions regarding the North American expansion; as well as participation of the decision maker in this course.
  6. Must agree to the terms and conditions and be able to participate in all programs related to the course.
  7. To be able to cooperate in the dissemination of project results by reporting on business agreements (business alliances, funding, etc.) that lead to overseas expansion and their prospects through a questionnaire administered by the secretariat to ascertain the results of the project.

The Manila Course is for companies looking to expand their business to the Philippines, through participation in the IGNITE tech event (Oct 12-13). Philippines is regarded as a starting point for Japanese companies looking to expand into Southeast Asia, Europe and US with its geographical advantage, rich human resources of English-speaking and cost advantage. Based on the high demand from Japanese companies, we will strengthen our support for expansion into Southeast Asia.
