X-HUB TOKYO #2 Overseas Expansion Seminar 2024

～Trends and strategic approaches to the UK and European Markets～

The X-HUB TOKYO project, hosted by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government, aims to support the global activities of startups in Tokyo and revitalize the economy of Tokyo while fostering a startup ecosystem through exchanges with startups from overseas that are active globally. The Overseas Expansion Seminar is composed of four sessions in total and is mainly targeted at startups aiming to expand their businesses overseas. Through the seminar, we will share the characteristics of ecosystems by area and the knowledge necessary for overseas expansion.
In the #２ Overseas Expansion Seminar, we will present the characteristics and charms of the UK and European markets.
In the first half of the event, Mr. Naoki Kamimaeda, London Office Representative and Europe Division Head of Global Brain Corporation will be invited to share live information on the market and the latest trends in Europe, including the UK.
In the latter half of the event, as senior success companies, Mr. Yuhei Urabe, Global Business Development Manager of Tenchijin inc. which have expanded the business to Europe, and Ms. Mao Parr, CEO/founder of datagusto,inc., which is relocating their company to London, will join us for a panel discussion with facilitation by Mr. Kamimaeda. Mr. Urabe and Ms. Parr will share their experiences on how they draw the strategy and the support programs they utilized for the expansion.
We welcome not only from startups, but also from indiciduals and members of organiations that support them.

Before GB, Naoki worked for Sony and Sony Network Entertainment Int’l (US). He is the London Office Representative and head of investment operations in Europe/Israel. He focuses on startups in AI, CloudTech, cyber security, FinTech, and InsurTech. Naoki worked for Sony as a software engineer specialised in AI and Big Data technologies. For the last 2 years of his Sony career, he worked in San Francisco as a software engineering manager for the PlayStation Network.

Heading Tenchijin’s global business. IE Business School MBA. Business development and strategy specialist for multiple sectors, especially startups, based on experience in management consulting, Rakuten (internet service conglomerate), and multiple Japanese and European startups. Led the establishment of a European branch for Dree Inc. Currently based in France.
Ms. Mao Parr

After completing her Master’s degree in Economics from Osaka University, Mao Parr enrolled in the doctoral program at Ochanomizu University. In 2017, she joined PwC Japan as the only female data analytics expert among new graduates. At PwC, she was the youngest member to engage in global projects across the United States, United Kingdom, India, and Japan in the AI and BI fields. She was also selected as a Tableau Evangelist. Subsequently, she moved to ABEJA, an AI venture, where she was responsible for business development and collaborated with Google Japan on new business initiatives before founding datagusto, Inc. Alchemist Accelerator LLC, a world-renowned accelerator based in Silicon Valley, USA, selected her. She became the first Japanese female entrepreneur to be chosen by the UK government for the Global Entrepreneur Programme. Currently, she is advancing business development in the United Kingdom.
