~ Customer acquisition methods and overseas exhibitions ~

The X-HUB TOKYO project, hosted by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government, aims to support the global activities of startups in Tokyo and revitalize the economy of Tokyo while fostering a startup ecosystem through exchanges with startups from overseas that are active globally. The Overseas Expansion Seminar is composed of four sessions in total and is mainly targeted at startups aiming to expand their businesses overseas. Through the seminar, we will share the characteristics of ecosystems by area and the knowledge necessary for overseas expansion.
In the #4 Overseas Expansion Seminar, we will present strategies that startups should adopt to win overseas and exhibit at overseas exhibitions as a way to acquire customers.
In the first half of the event, we will invite Dr. Masaru Nagura, Director of CIC Institute, to share the strategies of startups for developing overseas markets, the importance of exhibiting at overseas exhibitions, and how to prepare for it.
In the second half of the event, we will welcome Ms.Yuka Kayama, Director COO of Ashirase, Inc. and Mr.Seiji Takeuchi, CEO of Olive corp. as senior startups that has been selected for this project and played active roles in the local ecosystem and overseas exhibitions. Under the facilitation of Dr. Nagura, they will talk in a panel discussion style about their efforts for overseas expansions and successful experiences of exhibiting at exhibitions from the perspectives that only those with firsthand experience can offer.
We welcome not only startups but also individuals and members of organizations that support them.

Dr. Masaru Nagura

Director
Director of CIC Institute, Specially Appointed Professor at Institute of Science Tokyo, and Vice President of the Startup Ecosystem Association Japan. At Cambridge Innovation Center, he leads numerous programs supporting the growth and international expansion of deep tech startups. In 2022, he co-founded the Startup Ecosystem Association Japan with the aim of developing Japan’s startup ecosystem. At Institute of Science Tokyo, he serves as a specially appointed professor, supporting academic researchers interested in commercialization.
Ms. Yuka Kayama
Ashirase, Inc.
Director COO
Yuka Kayama is the COO of Ashirase, Inc., a startup originating from Honda’s new business creation program. She has led the commercialization of “Ashirase,” a navigation device for the visually impaired. The product launched in Japan in October 2024 and is now expanding into Europe and North America from 2025.
Mr. Seiji Takeuchi
Olive corp.
CEO
He led the launch and growth of new businesses both overseas and domestically at Mitsui & Co. Subsequently, he served as the APAC representative at a startup in Silicon Valley from its early stage, while also supporting startups and business creation both in Japan and abroad. He later founded Olive Inc., where he currently serves.
