Forefront of Food-tech in Italy with Developed Food and Food Service Industry, and Italy’s Innovation Ecosystem
Italy is a country well-known with luxurious brands and football, but nowadays Italy is becoming popular with startup ecosystems.
Remarkably in Italy, investment into startups had almost doubled in 5years from 3.5 billion Euros in 2014 to 9.7 billion Euros in 2019, and out of all the investments 65% of funds are from overseas which is powerfully supporting startup’s initiatives.
Under such proactive investment scenes, generation of startup ecosystem for “Food” and cross-border alliances among both large enterprises and startups expanding significantly. An acceleration program for food-tech startups has been launched in 2019, which is a program for startups to collaborate with Italian enterprises from manufacturing to retailing under the food industry through new business development and PoC trials. 7 global startups from Israel, U.S.A., and Italy have been selected to join this program, and this January, additional 10 startups are taking part of the program too.
As export of food product from Italy is estimated to be as much as 40 billion Euros, a lot of expectations are focusing on the birth of food-tech unicorn from Italy!
For this X-Hub event, we will be arranging a virtual startup pitch who are the participants of “Food-tech Accelerator Program” started from Milan, and a special lecture to introduce “Japan-Italy Innovations Alliance Cases”.
This will be a great chance to learn, for startups who wish to challenge the Italy market and also for food manufacturing enterprises considering to ally with Italian startups.
