X-HUB TOKYO #1 Overseas Expansion Seminar 2023
Entering Asian Markets ~Overseas expansion to Singapore and Manila~The X-HUB TOKYO project, hosted by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government, aims to support the global activities of startups in Tokyo and revitalize the economy of Tokyo while fostering a startup ecosystem through exchanges with startups from overseas that are active globally. The Overseas Expansion Seminar is composed of four sessions in total and is mainly targeted at startups aiming to expand their businesses overseas. Through the seminar, we will share the characteristics of ecosystems by area and the knowledge necessary for overseas expansion.
The #1 Overseas Expansion Seminar will provide information on the features and attractions of the Singapore and Manila markets.
In the first half of the event, Mr. Tan Fabian, Counsellor (Commercial) of Singapore Embassy in Tokyo and Regional Director of Northeast Asia and Oceania of Enterprise Singapore, and Mr. Akihiko Yoshida, Director of JETRO Manila Office, will be invited to share an overview and characteristics of each ecosystems and the support available for local expansion in each area.
In the latter half of the event, Mr. Takeshi Ebihara, Rebright Partners Pte Ltd., Founding General Partner, will explain the methodology for expanding into Singapore and Manila. This will be followed by a panel discussion with Mr. Yoshihisa Naganuma, CEO, ACALL Inc., and Mr. Tokushi Nakashima, President/CEO,Founder of Global Mobility Service Corporation, where Mr. Naganuma,and Mr. Nakashima will share their experiences, keys for success, and challenges they faced in expanding into the area.

X-HUB TOKYO Kickoff Event 2023
How Japanese startups can compete globallyThe X-HUB TOKYO project, hosted by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government, aims to support the global activities of startups in Tokyo and revitalize the economy of Tokyo while fostering a startup ecosystem through exchanges with startups from overseas that are active globally. To promote open innovation between startups and large companies and to become a bridge between Japan and other countries, we are holding a variety of events, seminars, and accelerator programs that support startups in expanding their businesses overseas.
This kick-off event will include an overview of the project as a whole as well as seminars on the five essential criteria for Japanese startups to compete globally and the secrets to success globally.
In the first half of the event, Mr. Masayuki Tadokoro, CEO of Unicorn Farm, Inc., will give us a talk about the theme of "5 criteria for Japanese startups to compete globally," including the importance and attractiveness for Japanese startups aiming for overseas expansion from the initial stage with a global perspective and the key to success in the world.
In the latter half of the event, Mr. Taichi Yamaguchi, Managing Executive Officer CSO and General Manager of the LIMEX Sales Division of TBM CO., Ltd., which develops and manufactures the environmentally friendly material "LIMEX", Mr. Kenshi Yoshida, Head of the Overseas Business Affairs of AI Medical Services, Inc., which conducts, development and research on endoscopic AI, and Dr. Naomi Kurahara, Founder/CEO of Infostella Inc., a provider of Ground Segment as a Service (GSaaS) for orbiting satellites, will join us for a panel discussion on "The secrets of globally successful startups".
We look forward to welcoming not only startups interested in overseas expansion, entrepreneurs, and those who are in the concept stage, but also startup supporters and startup-supporting organizations.

Wrap-up Event
Strategy and Expansion for startups to gain Global CompetitivenessThe X-HUB TOKYO program hosted by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government is a project with the goal of supporting the global activities of startups within Tokyo as well as stimulating the city's economy through interaction with globally active overseas startups.
In the Wrap-up Event, Dr. Yukihiro Maru, Founder of Leave a Nest. Co., Ltd. and instigator of one of Asia's largest startup ecosystems who envisions to solve the world's social issues with deep-tech will provide keynote speech titled "The importance of expanding overseas and the reasons for foreign startups to enter Japan" on why startups should consider expanding abroad. Toshihiko Honkura, partner at i-nest capital, inc., will then give a speech titled "How to become a global startup" and speak on funding and business collaboration, founding branches overseas, and multinational HR management from VC’s perspective.
In the Achievement Session, startups that have taken part in the "OUTBOUND PROGRAM," an overseas expansion support program for startups in Tokyo, and the "INBOUND PROGRAM," an expansion support program for overseas startups in Tokyo, will present the benefits and outcome of the programs.

X-HUB TOKYO 2022 #5 Seminar
Open innovation required for large companies today
~New business creation with overseas startups~The X-HUB TOKYO project, sponsored by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government, is providing the information for capturing overseas markets,as well as opportunities for networks, mentoring, and pitches with major companies and venture capitalists for Tokyo-based startups, and will support the creation of the new normal through interact between overseas startups and companies including startups in Tokyo.
The #5 seminar will focus on global open innovation by large companies in three areas: Life Science & Healthcare, CleaTech, and Mobility.
For each of these areas, a representative accelerator from each area will be invited to share an overview of the area and the latest information.
After that, the accelerator and a representative large company in that area will discuss the necessity of collaborating with startups and how to create new businesses that make an impact, while sharing examples from large companies.
We welcome participation not only from large companies, but also from startups, individuals and organizations interested in collaborating with large companies!

Learning from the world’s largest innovation city
~How startups can expand to “Silicon Valley”~The X-HUB TOKYO program hosted by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government is a project with the goal of supporting the global activities of startups within Tokyo as well as stimulating the city's economy through interaction with globally active overseas startups.
The Overseas Expansion Seminar is composed of five sessions total, and is targeted at startups aiming to expand their businesses overseas as well as members of supporting organizations that are considering collaboration with overseas startups. In these seminars, we will share (1) The characteristics of ecosystems by area, and (2) Knowledge necessary for overseas expansion.
#4 Overseas Expansion Seminar focuses on Silicon Valley. In the seminar, we present the characteristics and charms of Silicon Valley market.
In the first half of the event, Ms. Risa Ishii, Japanese Partnerships Director of Plug and Play Tech Center, will be invited to share an overview and the latest information of the ecosystems in Silicon Valley.
In addition, as a senior success company, Mr. Osamu Yamada, General Manager, Organization Strategy (Former Executive Vice President) of Cybozu, Inc., will be invited to talk about the reality of doing business in Silicon Valley.
Later in the event we will invite Mr. Takashi Kato, Partner and US Office Representative of Global Brain Corporation, to talk about the strategies that startups aiming to expand to Silicon Valley should know.

#3 Overseas Expansion Seminar focuses on Shenzhen. In the seminar, we present the characteristics and charms of Shenzhen market.
In the first half of the event, Mr. Toshikazu Tanaka, Founder CEO of Takumi Innovators and Founding Partner of Takumi Capital, and Eric Cui, Co-founding Partner of Takumi Capital, will be invited to share an overview and the latest information of the ecosystems in Shenzhen.
In addition, as a senior startup, Mr. Junichi Fujioka, President & CEO of JENESIS CO., LTD, a very active Japanese entrepreneur in Shenzhen, will be invited to talk about the reality of doing business in Shenzhen.

#2 Overseas Expansion Seminar focuses on Germany and London. In the seminar, we present the characteristics and charms of the Germany and London market.
In the first half of the event, Mr.Masahide Sakishige, Executive Director of JETRO London Office and Ms.Yoko Nakamura, Director of JETRO Berlin Office will be invited to share an overview and the latest information of the ecosystems in London and Germany.

Later in the event, a panel discussion will be held. Mr. Keiichiro Yano, Co founder & CEO of SWAT Lab.Inc., Mr. Shuhei Kataoka, and Mr. Alex Taisuke Odajima, who is the CEO of EDGEof INNOVATION, LLC, will talk about the latest trends in Germany and London, and the strategies that startups aiming to develop should know.

#1 Overseas Expansion Seminar focuses on Singapore, an Asian Pacific regional hub which developed as the most business-friendly destination in the world for companies looking to expand overseas. In the seminar, we present the characteristics and charms of the Singapore market.
In the first half of the event, we have invited Mr. Fabian Tan of Enterprise Singapore, who will share an overview of and the newest information on the ecosystem of Singapore.
As a representative from a pioneering startup, we have also invited Mr. Edward Senju, who is the Regional CEO of Sansan Global PTE. Ltd., which is based in Singapore and is attempting to expand into the Asian market. Mr. Senju will speak about the reality of expanding business in Singapore.
In the latter half of the event, Mr. Takeshi Ebihara, Founding General Partner of Rebright Partners Pte Ltd., will take the podium, and will speak about strategies startups aiming to expand into Singapore and Asia will need to know.

Global Trends of Startups and Keys to Successful Overseas Expansion during COVID-19The X-HUB TOKYO project, organized by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government, aims to support the global activities of startups based in Tokyo, and revitalize the economy of Tokyo while fostering a startup ecosystem through exchanges with startups from overseas who are active on a global scale. X-HUB TOKYO holds a variety of events to become a bridge between Japan and overseas, and promotes open innovation between startups and companies.
This kickoff event will cover a variety of topics, including the overview of X-HUB TOKYO, the status of the startup ecosystem in Tokyo, trends of globally active startups and its overseas expansion methods, and keys to successful overseas expansion amid the pandemic.
In the first half of the event, Ms. Tomoko Namba, Founder & Executive Chairman of DeNA Co., Ltd., will give us a talk about the status of the startup ecosystem of Tokyo and its ideal future, touching on the “Startup Breakthrough Vision” of Keidanren (Federation of Economic Organization). In addition to clarifying the challenges of Tokyo's ecosystem in comparison to those overseas, actions to be taken by both startups and startup supporters to foster a globally open ecosystem and create an innovation-inducing environment will be discussed.
For the panel discussion, Mr. Takaaki Umezawa, Chairperson of CIC Japan G.K. and Mr. Nobuhiro Matsuyama of Astroscale Holdings Inc. will be invited to take the stand along with the facilitator, Mr. Yuma Saito, Founder and CEO of Deloitte Tohmatsu Venture Support to cover the latest trends of globally active startups and how those startups have expanded their businesses internationally. Furthermore, the discussion will cover points that Japanese startups must consider for successful overseas expansions from the perspectives of both startup supporters and entrepreneurs.
In the latter part of the event, Mr. Shunsuke Aoki, CEO of Yukai Engineering Inc., developing communication robots such as Qoobo and AMAGAMI HAM HAM, will be invited to speak on the difficulties and key points to successfully expanding businesses overseas based on his own experiences.

2021 X-HUB TOKYO
Accomplishment Report EventX-HUB TOKYO aims to support the global activities of startups in Tokyo and revitalize the city's economy through exchanges with overseas startups that are active in the global market.
In the Accomplishment Report Event, we would like to report on the results of this year‘s event as a token of my gratitude to everyone who has participated in the events, to the members who have supported the X-HUB TOKYO, and to the various support organizations. We also invite Mr. Yamamoto Yasumasa, known as an author of “How will technology of next generation change the world?” as a lecturer, and he gives a keynote speech about the latest trends of startups and technology in overseas and comparison to Japanese startups. Also, Kenjiro Momi, Representative Director President CRC, at
TOYOKOH Inc. talks about the benefit for domestic startups to expand their business into overseas, keys for success, and experience of failure.
On the same day, Cross-National Event is going to be held which consists of cross-national event and panel discussion that Tokyo and international startups compete with and learn from each other. It aims to promote interaction between domestic startups that expand their business into overseas and international startups that expand their business into Tokyo.
We welcome not only startups, but also supporters and institutions to join us in this event!
